Use a BX bakeout band to increase the rate of degassing of the pump body to achieve faster pump down and lower ultimate pressure. Bakeout bands are normally fitted to CF flanged pumps intended for use in ultra high vacuum systems. A bakeout band may also be used to protect C-model pumps from condensation of contaminants. Bakeout bands are available for use with 110-120 or 220-240 V a.c. electrical supplies and can be powered from a rear panel socket on the EXC Controller.
